The question is: why are Black radicals in the United States willing to make arguments that support Trump’s sudden military withdrawal from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan; effectively leaving the left-wing leaning Kurds of Rojava (Democratic Federation of Northern Syria and their female-dominated armed defence forces, the People’s Protection Units/YPG unprotected, (yet again) after having abandoned them politically during ‘Operation Desert Storm’ following Saddam Hussein’s rule. A number of Afro-radicals have praised President Donald J. Trump as a laudable anti-war politician while tacitly defending his presidency through (seemingly) scripted commentary that (oddly) dismisses both Russian government interference in the US election system by defending any attempted efforts that may have occurred due to the documented history of US intelligence interference in the voting machinations of other nations; as if that justifies the work of the Putin government’s conscious decision to give support to the (violent) White Supremacists ripping US civil society apart by defending their ‘right’ to bamboozle Black Americans through Internet trickery and their visible support for White Power in Russia and the United States.

  • Prison Strike 2018 | Boston Review // Since August 21 this year, prisoners in seventeen states have been taking part in the Nationwide Prison Strike, and September 9 marks not only the end of their efforts, but the anniversary of the 1971 Attica prison riots—when thirty-nine prison guards and employees were held hostage. By ending their strike on the same day, incarcerated people are aligning themselves with the Prisoners’ Rights Movement, pointedly recalling the use of violence by American authorities to suppress efforts by prisoners to affirm their constitutional rights. Change has been slow, and the demands of this summer’s striking prisoners are the same as those that were made nearly half a century ago: an end to unpaid or underpaid forced labor and respect for prisoners’ basic legal and human rights.

    La question des violences policières s’impose comme l’un des enjeux de notre époque. Il ne se passe pas une semaine sans que la répression ne s’invite dans l’actualité, dans nos vies, dans nos luttes. Dans un système raciste et capitaliste, la police est le bras armé des idées du pouvoir, qui applique les idées d’extrême droite.
