• Prison Strike 2018 | Boston Review // Since August 21 this year, prisoners in seventeen states have been taking part in the Nationwide Prison Strike, and September 9 marks not only the end of their efforts, but the anniversary of the 1971 Attica prison riots—when thirty-nine prison guards and employees were held hostage. By ending their strike on the same day, incarcerated people are aligning themselves with the Prisoners’ Rights Movement, pointedly recalling the use of violence by American authorities to suppress efforts by prisoners to affirm their constitutional rights. Change has been slow, and the demands of this summer’s striking prisoners are the same as those that were made nearly half a century ago: an end to unpaid or underpaid forced labor and respect for prisoners’ basic legal and human rights.

• September 22 – Stop de neonazistische NVU in Amsterdam!

  Op zaterdag 22 september wil de neo-nazistische “partij” Nederlandse Volks-Unie samenkomen bij de Stopera (Waterlooplein) in Amsterdam. Om hun uitgesproken racistische en neo-fascistische gedachtegoed te verbloemen maakt de NVU regelmatig gebruik van gelegenheidsthema’s.

  Onder de noemer “links fascisme” willen ze tijdens hun volgende bijeenkomst antifascisme neerzetten als “een groot gevaar voor de vrijheid van meningsuiting.” Ironisch, komende van een partij die pleit voor een “uitsluitend blank Nederland” en de fascistische idealen van nazi Duitsland promoot als gewenst alternatief voor de huidige samenleving.

  Laat Ze Niet Lopen roept op om je te verzetten tegen deze extreem-rechtse bijeenkomst. Kom ook naar het Waterlooplein en laat je horen tegen de nazi’s van de NVU!

  Projection du documentaire « Avortement, les croisés contre-attaquent » Alexandra Jousset et Andrea Rawlins-Gaston livrent une enquête fouillée sur les réseaux européens opposés à l’IVG, leurs chefs de file, leur lobbyisme et leurs soutiens.
  Suivi d’un débat en présence de militantes et de professionnelles du Planning Familial 49.

  Les liens entre police et extrême-droite dans un état sécuritaire.

  La question des violences policières s’impose comme l’un des enjeux de notre époque. Il ne se passe pas une semaine sans que la répression ne s’invite dans l’actualité, dans nos vies, dans nos luttes. Dans un système raciste et capitaliste, la police est le bras armé des idées du pouvoir, qui applique les idées d’extrême droite. C’est elle qui expulse les exilé·e·s, qui procède aux contrôles au faciès, qui réprime les contestations, qui tue et mutile des fils et filles d’immigré·e·s dans les quartiers périphériques.
  Sur le plan électoral, plus d’un policier sur deux vote pour le Front National. Ces dernières semaines, un groupuscule armé, qui préparait des attentats contre les musulmans, a été arrêté. Il était composé de policiers et de militaires. Une partie des forces de l’ordre se radicalise.
  Cette soirée se propose d’explorer les liens entre la police et l’extrême droite, et d’évoquer l’ensauvagement de la répression et du racisme d’État. Animé par nos camarades nantais·e·s.
